Abstract
Pieces of seminiferous tubules obtained from adult unilaterally cryptorchid rats were incubated in vitro and the effect of FSH on the secretion of lactate and tissue-plasminogen activator (t-PA) was studied. Tubules from abdominal testes secreted less lactate than scrotal tubules. On the other hand, the basal secretion of t-PA was similar but the FHS-stimulated t-PA secretion was larger from abdominal than from scrotal tubules. These results indicate a more specific dysfunction of the Sertoli cells in crypt-orchidism than earlier recognized.
