Abstract

A critical review is provided of the literature of psychosomatic infertility, including research on the relation of psychological distress and infertility, interventional studies in which efforts to treat underlying psychopathology are related to success or failure in conceiving, and proposed neurophysiological mechanisms that relate psychological status and fertility. Directions for future research to address the issue of psychological distress and infertilty are also outlined.
