Abstract
An overview of the developments in the diagnosis and management of orbital tumors since the previous symposium on orbital disorders is presented which includes: the immunologic study of lymphoproliferative diseases of the orbit and the need to reclassify orbital pseudotumor and orbital lymphoma on the basis of such research, the role of autoimmunity in the pathogenesis of Graves' ophthalmopathy, the use of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging in orbital disease, the surgical management of orbito-facial neurofibromatosis, and the growth of orbitology as an entity among surgical specialties.
