Current options in the management of conjunctival melanomas

Abstract

Based on clinical experience with and a review of recent literature, the authors present their current recommendations for management of conjunctival malignant melanomas. Depending upon the location and extent of the tumor, conjunctival melanomas are managed by wide surgical excision followed by transconjunctival cryotherapy. Orbital exenteration may be required in patients with massive orbital invasion by the tumor. The specific details of these techniques are discussed.
