Abstract

A case is presented of a 48-year-old woman with an iatrogenic carotico-cavernous fistula consequent upon a transsphenoidal hypophysectomy. Successful closure of the fistula was achieved by interventional radiology. The causes and management of vascular injuries during trans-sphenoidal pituitary surgery are reviewed and discussed.
