Abstract

Within the framework of investigating voice differences in male and female speech, an experiment was carried out with male-to-female transsexuals as speakers. Seventeen acoustic parameters were analyzed using isolated words. Results were compared intra-individually. It appears that in the female speaking mode subjects are able to realize a number of speech characteristics that are typically associated with feminine voice quality.
