Abstract
Chronic bronchial asthma which has been unresponsive to good allergic and medical management may be improved considerably by detailed attention to often-overlooked important considerations. These are bacterial allergy and infection, careful elimination of foci of infection, the use of autogenous bacterial vaccines, the use of gamma globulin for IgG and IgA deficiency, and the use of bronchoscopy and lavage with acetylcysteine and a bronchodilator to liquefy and loosen the long-standing obstructive mucus plugs.
