Survey of Recent Literature on the Menstrual Cycle and Behavior

Pages 27-35 | Published online: 02 Jul 2009

Abstract

Since emotional changes influence body function and malfunction, those who treat the allergic syndromes should be aware of the recent studies on the relationship between behavior and the hormonal changes of the menstrual cycle. This paper represents an attempt to cover partially the effect of the menstrual cycle on women's behavior through current research findings in the literature. There has been much speculation about the menstrual cycle's effect on behavior, but little is really defined, and far less has been researched. In addition there is a great deal of difference of opinion among the various investigators.
