Abstract
The condensation reaction of 5-acetylamino-2-sulfamoyl-1,3,4 thiodiazole (acetazolamide) on the poly(acrylic acid-co-styrene) copolymer was studied, with a view to obtaining a retard drug. Coupling was performed in a THF medium in the presence of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as activator. The diuretic effect of the newly obtained drug was checked in rats.
