Abstract

This in vitro study examined the effect of Azone on skin permeability of isoproterenol HC1 at pH of 2.0, 8.0, 6.5 and 9.0. Azone was found to enhance the percutaneous transport of the drug from an aqueous vehicle under the pH conditions studied. The flux across human cadaver skin increased with increasing vehicle pH for Azone-treated and untreated skin with an observed maximum at pH 9.0.
