Abstract

Selected 34 batches of 13 brands of 3 types of aspirin tablets were compared with respect to contents of aspirin and salicylic acid, in vitro dissolution characteristics, weight variation, disintegration time, crushing strength and friability. The results indicated that there was significant difference between brands, but between batches of the same brand as well. The greatest disagreement with the official requirement was obtained when dissolution characteristics were evaluated (only 41.93% of batches complied with the USP XXI specifications)
