Abstract

I have read with pleasure the review article of Perutelli et al., entitled “von Willebrand Factor: Biology Function and Molecular Defects” in Pediatr Hematol Oncol. 1997;14:499-512. In the summary it was stated that von Willebrand factor (vWF) plays a role in blood coagulation. May I indicate that vWF primarily is a hemostatic factor and its role in coagulation of blood is secondary.
