Abstract

High-dose methylprednisolone induced neutrophilia is well known, but the neutrophilia with certain cytokines is much higher. Therefore, there was a rationale for the trial as described by us. We used GM-CSF in children with solid tumors (Pediatr Hematol Oncol. 1997;14:539-545) and not in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). High-dose methylprednisolone may work in ALL, but it is unknown whether it also works in solid tumors.
