Abstract
If rapid industrialisation is to transform the economy of any nation, it is vital that the labour force is healthy. This paper calls for the introduction of a comprehensive industrial health programme (CIHP) in major industries in Nigeria. The introduction of the CIHP may boost work productivity, reduce workers' absenteeism, and prevent job boredom and mental fatigue. In addition, the CIHP may reduce the rate of industrial accidents and will allow the injured worker to receive prompt and adequate treatment at the workplace. This paper examines the specific role of the physiotherapist in the CIHP. As Nigeria undergoes industrialisation, the role of the physiotherapist will become more diversified.
