The use of the tilt-table to effect passive tendo-Achillls stretch in a patient with head injury

Pages 45-50 | Accepted 01 Oct 1990, Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

The results of a tilt-table standing regime on a patient with a head injury were monitored and studied using an ABA single case study design. The aim was to determine the effectiveness of the regime in improving the patient's foot position and weight-bearing on the left side. The study lasted for a period of 27 days. Over this period, the time tolerated when standing and the range of movement at the ankle joint were increased. The results suggest that the use of a tilt-table is an effective clinical method for improving joint position and weight-bearing in neurologically damaged patients.
