Abstract
The scant literature on paradoxical effects of antidepressant medications is presented, including those described during fluoxetine treatment. Presented are three cases of transient paradoxical responses to a variety of antidepressant medications. The pharmacological potency and effectiveness of the antidepressant appears to be a relevant factor; however, this author draws attention to psychological factors that may influence the occurrence of this phenomenon, particularly personality characteristics.
