Abstract
Three substitute solvents were investigated as substitutes for ethanol in nine commonly used staining fluids. Anhydrous methanol (“Bioloid” grade, Will Corporation) was found an entirely satisfactory substitute in these fluids, and isopropanol only slightly inferior.
