Pages 155-161 | Published online: 12 Jul 2009

Abstract

The presence of gallocyanin residues in its chrome alum complex was verified by decomposition of the complex and analysis of the red dye produced. The gallocyanin: chromium ratio was established as 2:1 by the method of continuous variation and verified by gel filtration. Infrared spectroscopy indicated that the binding of the chromium involved the carboxyl groups of the dye.
