Abstract

Elemental X-ray microanalysis of biological tissues by energy-dispersive detectors attached to conventional transmission or scanning electron microscopes is a technique with many potential applications. Proper specimen preparation and consideration of problems inherent with the method are necessary to achieve satisfactory results. This report concerns some of the problems encountered in analyzing tissue samples embedded for electron microscopy in epoxy resins.
