An Orientation Program for New Clinical Trial Monitors

Pages 235-250 | Published online: 28 Sep 2008

Abstract

New employees in clinical trial monitoring usually bring substantial but varied previous biomedical training to their new positions in the pharmaceutical industry. Rapid assimilation of these employees into productive roles as monitors depends in part on their successful completion of a systematic and supervised orientation program. This report describes a five-day didactic program for new monitors, along with procedures for initial field training of new monitors. Basic training and competency of monitors in the pharmaceutical industry are discussed.
