Pages 217-230 | Published online: 07 Jul 2009

Abstract

This paper presents some data about “Hypertensive states of Pregnancy” (H.S.P.) in 23 Spanish Hospital Centers. The general incidence of this pathology is 2,23 % of all births, with Preeclampsia being the predominant type of Hypertension. Eclampsia is present in 0,03 % of births and Antepartum Eclampsia is the type which appears most frequently. The Perinatal Mortality for these patients varies, according to the Center, from 0 to 89,2 per 1000, although the most common figures lie between 30 and 45 per 1000. As is logical, Eclampsia causes the greatest Perinatal Mortality (230,7 per 1000), followed by chronic Hypertension with superimposed Preeclampsia (75,37 per 1000) and severe Preeclampsia (51,02 per 1000).
