Abstract

Communication with the new generation of the drug using subculture not only requires parental patience and the old psychiatric skills, it also requires certain new linguistics. For many of the young, the particular language of their own group helps to create the “generation gap” which seems to be a prerequisite for growing up. The psychiatrist finds himself in the dual position of respecting this distancing and of bridging it at the same time. Understanding the language helps him in this often difficult task
