Pot Smokers, Junkies, and Squares: A Comparative Study of Female Values

Abstract

Four groups of females, 30 in each group, representing college marijuana smokers, college nondrug users, heroin users, and non-college nondrug users were compared on six value scales, predetermined as to validity and reliability. The use of marijuana was assessed also in 77 female heroin addicts.

Only one group, marijuana users, proved to be consistently and statistically significantly different from each other group, suggesting that “potheads” have basic differences in attitude not associated merely with the ingestion of stigmatized drugs.
