Abstract
A federally funded research and demonstration program was conducted in Philadelphia from June 30, 1971 to June 30, 1972. The team concept was utilized to deliver services to ex-offenders. More than 62% of the 2,192 persons served were ex-addicts or addicts needing treatment. Greatest successes as well as failures were achieved with applicants younger than 35 years of age. Job placements were most apt to be in unskilled or service occupations. Recidivism as known to the team is noticeably lower than the national figure. Use of a configuration of community services in conjunction with vocational services is indicated and strongly recommended.
