Abstract
Ninety-eight inmates of a large Southeastern men's prison were administered a family questionnaire for this research. The characteristics of inmates with and without drug abuse problems were compared in the following areas: numbers of brothers and sisters, illicit drug use by family members, and other deviant behavior by family members. The results showed that the family members of the inmates with drug abuse problems more often used certain types of illicit drugs than the family members of inmates without drug problems. Implications for treatment were discussed.
