Abstract

The length of stay of 38 admissions to a United Kingdom inpatient drug treatment facility was related to psychological and social factors. Psychoticism, extraversion, social pressure on the patient at admission, and separation from parents during childhood were found to be relevant. It is suggested that different factors may be important during drug withdrawal and rehabilitation. The study failed to replicate the results of recent American and English work in this field.
