Abstract

Using data taken from a household survey of Pennsylvanians in 1976, we focus on the differences in massed drinking between men and women (N = 1, 696) who are adults and who are nonabstainers. We seek to test the extent to which role distributions vs socialization accounts for variations in the proportions of males and females who engage in such behavior.
