Systematic Development and Evaluation of a Social Skills Training Program for Chemical Abusers

Abstract

Based on the principles of cognitive learning, social learning, structured learning, and research findings in the field of addiction, a social skills training program was developed, implemented, and then evaluated over a 5-year period. Results indicated consistently that this innovative program was effective in improving emotional expression of hospitalized chemical abusers.
