Developing interprofessional learning in child protection at the qualifying level

Abstract

Shared learning among professionals concerned with child protection work in the UK is frequently undertaken at post-qualification level within employing agencies or institutions of higher education. This article reports on joint sessions designed for health visiting and social work students and argues that shared learning in child protection should be included at the pre-qualifying stage. Such learning may serve to identify differences between those involved and it is argued that such differences are integral to an understanding of multi-agency and multidisciplinary work in child protection.
