Nutritional Deficiency as a Complicating Factor in Tuberculous Meningo-encephalitis

Abstract

A sixty-year-old Nigerian male presented with aseptic meningo-encephalitis, and later developed features of vitamin D deficiency during prolonged hospitalization in an intensive care (neurology) ward. the case highlights the risk of secondary nutritional deficiency during long-term hospitalization and provides an update on the interactions between vitamin D deficiency and tuberculosis, with special reference to the tropical environment.
