Percutaneous pedicle ligation in laparoscopic surgery

Pages 369-371 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Summary

Ligation of a pedicle during laparoscopic surgery is usually performed with a clip applicator, but if it is large it is either ligated with a suture or an endo-GIA is used. The former can sometimes be difficult, especially if a pedicle is being approached retroperitoneoscopically and the latter may not be available due to financial constraints. The percutaneous method of pedicle ligation is a simple economically viable alternative procedure.
