Summary

Radioactive stents have recently been shown to inhibit neointima formation. This paper describes the development status of such radioactive stents. Following a short discussion of the different radioisotopes suitable for radioactive stents, potential production methods are discussed. The ion beam implantation of 32P used at the Karlsruhe Research Centre is described in more detail.
