Summary
Laparoscopic pancreatic resection has not been widely carried out because it requires an advanced laparoscopic technique. We report on the case of a 27 year old woman who was treated by laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for solid cystic tumour of the pancreatic tail. The patient consulted our hospital for closer examination of an abnormal calcified shadow on an abdominal X-ray. Abdominal ultrasonography, CT and MRI suggested a solid cystic tumour of the pancreatic tail. Laparoscopic resection was performed. The surgical duration was 2 h 20 min and estimated intraoperative bleeding was 30 ml. The drain was removed on the seventh postoperative day and the patient recovered uneventfully, without complication. By using a laparoscopic linear stapler and laparoscopic ultrasonic-activated device, we performed the procedure safely and reduced the surgical duration.
