Pharmacognostical Studies of Boerhaavia Erecta Gaert. and its Comparison with Boerhaavia Diffusa Linn

Abstract

The drug Punarnava is reputed to possess important therapeutic properties. Boerhaavia diffusa, B. erecta and B. repanda have been found in use as Punarnava in India. The detailed pharmacognostic characteristics with phytochemical findings of one species B. erecta are presented here. These findings are compared with B. diffusa described earlier.
