Abstract
Hypercholesterolemia induced on rabbits according to a laboratory process previously defined by us, can be inhibited through a small daily dose of Solanum melongena. This action not only takes place on cholesterol, total lipids and phospholipids, but also seems to prevent formation of pre-betalipoproteins. Elimination in excreta paradoxically shows lower rates with the treated animals. It seems to be without curative effect on triglycerides and serum lipase whose values remain unchanged when compared to the non-treated animals.
