Abstract
Congestive heart failure (CHF) is one of the common diseases in the group of cardio-vascular diseases which is seen in all age groups and in both sexes. Drugs presently in use for the treatment of CHF do not give very satisfactory results - even therapeutic doses of Digitalis preparations cause signs and symptoms of intoxication. Though not mentioned in the ancient literature of the Indian system of medicine, Karveer (Nerium indicum L.) is supposed to be effective in cardiac diseases (Hridrogas).
