Abstract

Altogether 208 Indian plant species were screened for the presence of steroid/terpenoids, alkaloids, flavones, tannins, phenolics and saponins. The number of positive tests obtained was 244 for steroid/terpenoids, 146 for alkaloids, 182 for flavones, 210 fortannins, 149 for phenolics and 195 for saponins.
