Abstract
Theethanolic extract (EE)of the aerial partsof Haplophyllum tuberculatum (Forssk). A. Juss. was tested for its effect against the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus Say. The cumulative mortality of larvae, pupae and adults was concentration-dependent at 50–2000 ppm. Morphogenetic aberrations were exhibited in the larvae, pupae and adults when early 4th instar larvae were treated with H. tuberculatum (EE) suggesting a type of insect growth regulating (IGR) activity. No ovicidal effect was observed when zero-h old eggs of C. quinquefasciatus were treated with 50–1000 ppm of H. tuberculatum (EE) but substantial kill occurred in the newly hatched 1st instar larvae.
