Abstract

Some Sideritis species have been used in folk medicine as antiinflammatory for acute and chronic inflammations. The antiinflammatory activities of the EtOH extracts of 6 Sideritis species which are used frequently in folk medicine in Turkey were investigated by carrageenan-induced hind paw edema in mice. Significant antiinflammatory activities were observed with 5 species of Sideritis which were tested, while one species was inactive.
