Abstract

An alcoholic extract fractionated into hexane of Codonopsis ovata Benth. (Campanulaceae) showed significant contraction of isolated rat uterus. Column chromatography yielded five compounds: taraxerol acetate, apigenin, luteolin, apigenin 7-O-glucoside and luteolin-7-O-glucoside.
