Pages 33-38 | Received 18 Apr 1989, Accepted 28 Dec 1989, Published online: 27 Sep 2008

Abstract

Guinea-worm disease is endemic in tribal areas of Rajasthan. Spread by drinking water supplies, the worm incapacitates victims for months and requires very painful extraction. Ethnobotanical surveys in the tribal regions of southern Rajasthan indicate that the tribals have adopted various methods for treatment of this disease e.g. local as well as oral application of plant drugs and fumigation.
