Abstract
A quantitative spectrophotometric determination of the active ingredients (flavonoids AND caffeic polyphenols) in the leaves of Cynara scolymus L. (Romanian strain) as well as the relative percentages of individual compounds by HPLC analysis were carried out. The study covers the mature leaves, different harvests, the parent plant AND two filial generations as well as a comparative study for the Romanian AND Egyptian strains. The leaves of the Romanian strains of C. scolymus are preferable to the leaves of the Egyptian strain.
