Systematic reviews of the literature: Cochrane Collaboration in the drug and alcohol field

Abstract

The feasibility, relevance and organization of a Cochrane Collaborative Review Group on Drug and Alcohol Addiction was discussed in a first exploratory meeting in January 1997, especially focusing on evaluation of treatments and prevent ional approaches for substance use and related problems. The goals, process and implications of such an endeavor are briefly outlined, and the need for wide involvement, support and participation of the collaborators and researchers from this field is indicated.
