Kell Sensitization, Hydrops, and Low Delta OD₄₅₀ Value

Abstract

We present a case of maternal Kell sensitization in which the amniotic fluid delta OD₄₅₀ fell to zero at 33 weeks gestation. At 37 weeks of gestation, ultrasound showed fetal hydrops. This case demonstrates vividly the lack of correlation between the severity of the hemolytic disease and the delta OD₄₅₀ value in Kell sensitization.
