Abstract

A case of placental teratoma is presented. The world's literature of 7 previous cases is cited, and the criteria for making this diagnosis, with emphasis on differentiation from a fetus amorphus, are reviewed. Lack of a recognizable umbilical cord and no recognizable skeletal development are the criteria used for diagnosing a teratoma.
