Abstract
The medical literature is replete with contributions that describe the consequences of occupational exposures to chlorine gas. The exposures are often catastrophic and there is little decision-making with respect to the medical management of exposed patients. More elusive is the management of chlorine and chloramine gas exposures that have occurred as a consequence of mixing household cleaning agents which contain bleach (hypochlorite salts). This a frequently debated topic in both the medical literature and trade journals (1-6).
