Abstract
In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequence of Johnius grypotus has been determined by long polymerase chain reaction and primer walking methods. Although the mitochondrial genome (18,523 bp) contains the same set of 37 mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA), 13 protein-coding genes, and a control region as found in other vertebrates, it has a novel gene rearrangement with three noncoding sequence insertions and a tRNA gene order that differed from that recorded for other vertebrates.
