Abstract
A case of congenital measles is reported. In the mother the rash appeared on the 6th day after delivery; in the infant 7 days after birth. Serologic studies after the disease showed hemagglutination-inhibiting (HI), neutralizing and complement-fixing measles antibodies in both the mother and the child. As late as 2 years after the disease HI antibodies were demonstrated with equally high titers in sera from the mother and from the child. It is concluded that immunity may be permanent also after recovery from congenital measles.
