Abstract

The staphylococcal scalded-skin syndrome in young children seems to he a rare disease in Sweden. Four cases of this syndrome are descrihed. In 3 of the children (9-21 months old) the disease was probably primarily caused by Staphylococcus aureus. In a girl aged 8 years a staphylococcal aetiology seemed more donbtful, although Staph. aureus of phage group 2 was isolated. Parenteral cephaloridine was given with good effect. The incidence of group 2 Staph. aureus among hospitalized children (≤10 years of age) was low.
