Abstract

Cholera exo-enterotoxin was fixed and inactivated by pure GM1 ganglioside (Galβ1−3GalNAcβ1−4(NANβ2−3)Galβ1−4Glc-Cer) in stoichiometric proportions. This indicates that GM1 may be the tissue receptor for the toxin.
